LG to Invest $6.2B in South Korea's Yeongnam Region for AI and Advanced Manufacturing

According to Chosun Daily, LG announced on July 3 a plan to invest 9.4 trillion won (approximately $6.15 billion) in South Korea's Yeongnam region by 2030 to strengthen AI infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. The investment will focus on AI data centers, optical technology, AI semiconductor core substrates, and next-generation displays, with affiliate projects centered in Changwon and Gumi.

Yeongnam comprises five areas: Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang, with portions already functioning as industrial hubs.
