KOSPI Volatility Circuit Breakers Hit Record 29,357 Times in H1 2026, Up 20% vs Pandemic Levels

According to Korea Exchange, KOSPI's volatility circuit breakers (VI) triggered 29,357 times in the first half of 2026, marking an all-time high for a six-month period and surpassing the previous record set during the COVID-19 pandemic by 20%. The exchange also noted that intraday price volatility reached its highest level since the 1998 Asian financial crisis.
