According to Bloomberg, the 60-day correlation coefficient between South Korea's KOSPI index (Korea's benchmark equity index) and the Nasdaq 100 index reached 0.46 on July 20, approaching a two-year high. The reading is roughly three times higher than the five-year average of 0.16, signaling strengthened linkage between Korean and U.S. tech equities. On July 7, the correlation metric hit its highest level since 1990, indicating heightened sensitivity of Korean stocks to Nasdaq movements during market downturns.
