Japan Parliament Approves Bitcoin Transfer to Financial Instruments Act, Clearing Path for Spot BTC ETF by 2028

According to ChainCatcher, Japan's parliament approved on July 15 the transfer of Bitcoin and 105 other crypto assets from the Payment Services Act to the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, removing a major legal barrier toward a potential spot Bitcoin ETF launch as early as 2028. The country also plans to adjust crypto asset taxation from a maximum 55% miscellaneous income tax to approximately 20.315% separate filing tax.
