ISM Services PMI Rises to 54.5 in May, Beating Forecast of 53.8

According to the Institute for Supply Management, the U.S. Services Purchasing Managers Index came in at 54.5 in May, up from 53.6 in April and above the forecasted 53.8. The reading marks the 23rd consecutive month of expansion in the services sector. Following the data release on Wednesday morning, spot gold recovered from its session low of $4,426.42 to trade at $4,450.98 per ounce, down 0.82% on the day.
