IATA Chief Predicts More Airline Failures and Industry Consolidation as Fuel Prices Rise

According to Jin10 on June 7, International Air Transport Association (IATA) Chief Willie Walsh stated that rising aviation fuel prices will lead to more airline bankruptcies and industry consolidation in the coming period.

Walsh also noted that once Middle East tensions ease, airlines and hubs in the Gulf region will recapture market share. Despite disappointing progress on sustainable aviation fuel, IATA remains committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
