Hubei Hit by Torrential Rains on May 25 as Subtropical High Pressure Strengthens

GateNews

According to Hubei Meteorological Bureau Chief Forecaster Gao Qi, Hubei experienced torrential rains on May 25, primarily caused by an anomalously strengthened subtropical high pressure system pushing northward, bringing moisture from the Bay of Bengal and South China Sea. The rainfall shifted from warm-region rain to frontal rain as cold air moved south.

Soil moisture in most areas of Hubei is near saturation following earlier precipitation. Enshi and Huanggang mountainous regions require monitoring for delayed geological disasters.
