According to Hong Kong Financial Secretary Xu Zhengyu, on June 17 evening at the Lujiazui Forum, Shanghai-Hong Kong financial cooperation is characterized by three key qualities: comprehensiveness, long-term orientation, and coordinated engagement. As an international financial center, Hong Kong currently lacks commodity trading, including precious metals. To address this, Hong Kong is pursuing strategic cooperation with Shanghai Gold Exchange to establish an international gold trading center in Hong Kong.
Xu noted that future collaboration should better leverage Hong Kong's financial capabilities alongside Shanghai's real economy elements.
