Hikvision Adjusts Hard Drive Prices Effective July 1, Launches Coding Tech to Cut Storage by 50%

According to Hikvision on June 17, the company will raise hard drive prices starting July 1 due to surging Q3 storage product costs amid growing global AI computing and data storage demand. The company said it will continue monitoring market changes to ensure stable product supply and protect customer interests.

To offset rising costs, Hikvision launched a new video encoding technology called "Guanlan Coding," powered by its in-house AI model. The technology can reduce video bitrate while maintaining image quality and AI application performance, cutting storage space by at least 50% compared to H.265 codec in most scenarios and up to 90% in certain use cases, thereby lowering overall customer storage costs.
