Google Fined $1.02 Billion by EU on July 23 for Antitrust Violations

According to Jin10, on July 23, the European Commission fined Google $1.02 billion for antitrust violations under EU tech regulations. The Commission stated that Google unfairly favors its own services on its search engine and imposes restrictions on app developers, preventing them from freely directing users to services outside the Play Store. Google Global Affairs President Kent Walker responded that compliance with EU regulations has forced the company to remove real-time search features popular in Europe, such as instant price checks and direct booking for hotels, flights, and restaurants.
