According to Goldman Sachs in its latest report released on July 27, South Korea's won is positioned as a key beneficiary currency amid Asia's divergent currency market dynamics driven by AI investment enthusiasm and strong semiconductor exports. The investment bank forecasts South Korea's current account surplus to reach approximately $300 billion this year, roughly double last year's figure and equivalent to 13.9% of the country's GDP. The won's strength is underpinned by record-high semiconductor exports and stabilizing foreign investor capital flows. Taiwan's dollar is similarly benefiting, with Goldman Sachs projecting its current account surplus to reach 25% of Taiwan's GDP.
