Germany's Bundestag Approves Health Insurance Reform, Raises Pharma Price Discounts to 15.5% on July 10

According to Jin10, Germany's Bundestag approved on July 10 a comprehensive reform of the country's statutory health insurance system, requiring pharmaceutical companies to increase drug price discounts from the current 7% to 15.5% for most branded drugs covered by public insurance. The government projects the measure will save approximately 16 billion euros annually starting next year. Without such reforms, the public health insurance system faces a budget shortfall exceeding 40 billion euros by 2030, prompting the need for increased worker and employer contribution rates.
