According to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, Menefee won the Texas 18th Congressional District Democratic primary runoff on May 27, defeating 20-year incumbent Al Green. Crypto super PAC Fairshake and affiliated groups invested approximately $10.5 million in the race, allocating $6.5 million to support Menefee and $4 million to oppose Green. Green received an "F" rating from Stand With Crypto for voting against pro-crypto legislation including the GENIUS Act and CLARITY Act, making him the first Democratic incumbent to lose this election cycle due to an anti-crypto stance. Fairshake stated: "Senator Green's defeat demonstrates that anti-crypto hostility carries real electoral consequences."
