According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), European car registrations in May reached 1.1525 million units, up 3.6% year-on-year, with battery electric vehicles (BEV) surging 39.1% and plug-in hybrids growing 13.2%. Chinese automakers demonstrated exceptional growth: Leapo surged 465.1%, Chery rose 244.1%, and BYD increased 136.6% year-over-year. In contrast, traditional European manufacturers including Renault, Stellantis, and Volkswagen saw registrations decline between 1-3%.
Tesla registered 28,610 vehicles in May, up 107.9% year-over-year, marking its fourth consecutive month of triple-digit growth.
