According to official statement, the ENS DAO approved activation of a new 8-member Safety Committee on July 21, with a two-year term. The committee operates on a 5-of-8 multisig mechanism, requiring at least five members to approve any action. Its authority is limited to vetoing malicious proposals during the timelock period before execution; the committee cannot access treasury funds, submit proposals, or modify approved proposals. It may only exercise powers under emergency conditions specified in its charter.
