Cuba Outlines Measures to Counter U.S. Pressure, Prioritizes Defense Buildup

According to Xinhua and Cuba's State Council, President Díaz-Canel confirmed yesterday (June 12) a series of key initiatives to address sustained U.S. pressure, spanning defense readiness, economic and social development, opening to the outside world, and energy transition. The government identified strengthening defense preparation as the primary task and designated the 2026 Government Economic and Social Plan as another critical priority, with over 20 economic transformation initiatives currently under review.
