According to Creator Buddy CEO Alex Finn on X, Anthropic will discontinue Claude Fable 5's flat-rate subscription access on June 22, requiring users to pay per token of usage thereafter. Anthropic subscriptions will continue to provide access to older, lower-cost models, but users seeking the latest version must adopt per-token pricing. Finn noted that the prior subscription model included significant subsidies, with users paying $200 monthly while receiving thousands of dollars worth of token credits. As investor funding tightens and Anthropic approaches profitability pressures ahead of potential IPO plans, the company can no longer sustain the loss-making subsidy structure.
