Citron Research Founder Andrew Left Convicted of Securities Fraud on 13 of 17 Counts

According to Bloomberg, on June 1, Andrew Left, 55-year-old founder of Citron Research, was convicted on 13 of 17 securities fraud counts after a three-week federal trial in Los Angeles. Prosecutors alleged Left made over $20 million from 2018 to 2023 by posting market-moving commentary while trading positions against the advice his posts created. Left testified in his own defense and signaled an appeal, telling reporters "the jury got it wrong." He faces up to 25 years in prison; sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
