Chinese Scientists Identify Key Gene CHPO That Boosts Rice Cold Resistance and Nitrogen Efficiency

According to CCTV, on June 17, Chinese Academy of Sciences researchers led by academician Zhong Kang identified a critical gene, CHPO, that enables rice plants to recover from frost damage and efficiently absorb nitrogen fertilizer. The discovery solves two major agricultural challenges: cold resilience and nitrogen use efficiency in rice cultivation. The research was published today in the journal Nature.
