Chinese Scientists Develop Four-Channel Topological Photonic Waveguide System, Published in Nature on July 22

According to research published on July 22 in Nature, a joint team from Southeast University, Nanjing University, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology developed a new type of topological photonic waveguide system achieving 100% spatial utilization. The system comprises four parallel single-direction channels based on specially designed photonic valley semi-metals, which simultaneously function as both waveguides and topological insulators. The design enables robust unidirectional transmission while maximizing channel density for next-generation high-speed optical communications and on-chip photonic computing applications.
