China's Railways Complete 248.5 Billion Yuan Fixed Asset Investment in First Five Months of 2026, Up 2.6%

According to the National Railway Administration, China's railways completed 248.5 billion yuan in fixed asset investment during January to May 2026, up 2.6% year-on-year. The country's railways also dispatched a total of 2.186 billion tons of cargo during the same period, representing a 3.1% increase compared with the previous year. In May alone, freight shipments reached 459 million tons, up 4.5% year-on-year. Key categories including coal (1.164 billion tons), containers (447 million tons), and grain (23.98 million tons) all showed growth, with increases of 4.5%, 8.4%, and 4.7% respectively.
