On May 27, China's Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) released its 2026 legislative work plan during a State Council Information Office press briefing. The plan schedules 15 bills for continued review and 19 bills for initial review in 2026, China's opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Key priorities include financial sector legislation: the NPC will draft the Financial Law and Financial Stability Law, and revise the Banking Regulation and Supervision Law and the Law of the People's Bank of China.
