China's Financial Sector Assets Hit 556.34 Trillion Yuan in Q1, Up 8.8% Year-on-Year

According to China's central bank, the nation's financial institutions held total assets of 556.34 trillion yuan at the end of Q1 2026, up 8.8% year-on-year. The banking sector accounted for 494.72 trillion yuan, increasing 8.0%, while securities firms held 19.15 trillion yuan, up 25.4%, and insurers held 42.47 trillion yuan, up 12.2%.
