China's Central Bank: April Interbank Lending Rate Drops to 1.29%, Down 0.44% Year-over-Year

According to the People’s Bank of China’s April financial statistics report released on May 14, the weighted average rate for interbank lending in April stood at 1.29%, down 0.09 percentage points from March and 0.44 percentage points from the same period last year. The weighted average rate for pledged repo transactions was 1.31%, declining 0.09 percentage points from March and 0.41 percentage points year-over-year. China’s interbank renminbi market recorded combined transactions of 225.62 quadrillion yuan in April, with daily average transactions reaching 10.74 quadrillion yuan, up 34% year-over-year.
