China, U.S. Pursuing Divergent AI Strategies, Says Former Ambassador Zhao Lin on July 24

According to Zhao Lin, former ambassador to Eswatini, speaking on CTi News' program "Hong Liu Dong Jian" on July 24, China and the U.S. are developing divergent AI strategies. The U.S. pursues high-cost closed-source models to maintain its technological edge, while China emphasizes cost-effective, open-source deployment and accessibility. Zhao noted that U.S. restrictions on advanced AI chips may accelerate China's development of independent semiconductor, model, and supply chain ecosystems, ultimately forming two separate technology systems.
