China Responds to U.S. 301 Investigation on Overcapacity on July 28

According to China's Ministry of Commerce, officials criticized the United States on July 28 for initiating a 301 investigation into overcapacity issues, calling it typical unilateralism that damages the international economic order. Commerce Ministry spokesperson Lin Weilong stated at a State Council Information Office briefing that the U.S. cannot unilaterally define production capacity exceeding domestic demand as "overcapacity" or take unilateral measures based on a one-sided assessment. China urged the U.S. to correct its approach and return to dialogue-based problem-solving. The ministry said it would closely monitor developments and reserve the right to take necessary measures to defend its legitimate interests.
