China Releases 17 AI Measures to Boost Consumer Spending on June 18

According to Xinhua, China's Ministry of Commerce and seven other government departments released 17 implementation guidelines on June 18 to accelerate 'AI plus consumption' and stimulate spending through smarter products and services.

The measures call for AI product upgrades in consumer electronics, household appliances, and home goods, as well as expansion of smart wearables and AI-powered robots for elderly care. The guidelines also encourage broader AI adoption in home services, elderly care, tourism, retail, e-commerce, and logistics serving rural areas, alongside support for AI consumption clusters, experience centers, and potential local subsidies for next-generation smart terminals.
