China Meteorological Administration Reports June Sea Surface Temperature Index at 1.75°C, Forecasts Strong El Niño Event

According to China Meteorological Administration, equatorial central-eastern Pacific sea surface temperature index reached 1.75 degrees Celsius in the fifth pentad of June, up 0.04 degrees from the fourth pentad and 0.79 degrees higher than May's 0.96 degrees. Based on combined dynamic climate models and statistical methods, forecasters expect sea surface temperatures to continue rising, with a strong-to-very-strong eastern-type El Niño event forming during summer and autumn.
