According to CoinDesk, blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis released a standardized framework on Monday to help investigators track transactions and identify address clusters. The framework centers on a cluster concept broken into wallet segments and employs a two-tier attribution structure: one layer defines structural graphs, while the second assesses confidence levels.

Chainalysis Chief Scientist Jacob Illum stated the goal is to provide law enforcement and prosecutors with data reliability assurance. The methodology has gained legal recognition following a U.S. Department of Justice case involving Bitcoin Fog co-founder Roman Sterlingov, where a judge validated Chainalysis's analytical methods as sufficiently rigorous.
