Brazil Races to Avert $1.8B Animal Export Ban to EU Before September 3 Deadline

According to Bloomberg, Brazil is taking urgent steps to avert a ban on animal product exports worth $1.8 billion to the European Union ahead of a September 3 deadline. As the world's largest beef and poultry exporter, the country is exchanging information and providing additional assurances to prove compliance with EU standards on antimicrobial use in livestock. Brazil failed to appear on an authorized exporter list announced by the EU in May.
