Blockchain Security Incidents Hit Record 212 in H1 2026, $1.1B in Losses as DPRK Actors Drive 55% of Damages

According to blockchain security firm Blockaid, the first half of 2026 saw 212 blockchain exploits totalling $1.1 billion in losses, marking a record surge in incidents. DPRK-linked actors, including the Lazarus Group sub-group TraderTraitor, were responsible for approximately $609 million, or 55% of the half-year total, with major attacks on KelpDAO ($292 million) and Drift Protocol ($285 million) attributed to social engineering and private key compromise. Compromised private keys emerged as the dominant loss driver, accounting for roughly 74% of all H1 damage across approximately ten incidents.
