According to Foresight News, privacy layer 2 Aztec has completed development of its v5 protocol upgrade code and is preparing to enter the governance proposal stage. The upgrade, described as the largest since Alpha Network launch, integrates 13 AZIP improvements across block building, proof performance, penalty mechanisms, privacy protection, and node API. The deployment process mirrors v4: any user can deploy new contracts, sequencers signal support, token holders vote on governance, and the upgrade activates after execution delay. Node operators can pre-deploy v5 nodes in standby mode, with automatic activation upon upgrade execution.
