ASIC Imposes Record A$830M in Penalties on CFD Brokers, Binance Australia in 2025-26 Crackdown

According to ASIC figures released on July 20, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission imposed a record A$830 million in civil penalties during the 2025-26 financial year. The regulator secured A$480 million in the second half through June 2026, adding to A$350 million in the first half. Union Standard International Group received a record A$300 million penalty for CFD misconduct affecting retail investors. ASIC also returned A$643.5 million to consumers through remediation and refunds.

Binance Australia Derivatives was fined A$10 million for onboarding failures that resulted in significant client trading losses, reflecting ASIC's continued focus on digital assets as an enforcement priority.
