Apple Sues OpenAI for Stealing iPhone Technology; Musk-Altman Clash Intensifies as GPT-5.6 and Grok 4.5 Launch Same Week

According to a federal court filing, Apple sued OpenAI on July 10 in California's Northern District, alleging the company deliberately recruited Apple employees to leak unreleased product information, components, and design documents. Apple demands OpenAI cease the conduct, destroy all proprietary materials, and redesign upcoming products to remove any Apple technology. OpenAI denied the allegations, stating it has no interest in other companies' trade secrets.

The legal action coincides with OpenAI's launch of GPT-5.6 and Elon Musk's xAI unveiling Grok 4.5 during the same week. Both models target the AI Agent market. The timing amplified an ongoing public dispute between Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on X, with Musk accusing Altman of theft and Altman countering with criticism of Musk's space ventures.
