Apple Plans Major Siri Overhaul in iOS 27, Integrates Google Gemini and AI Camera Features

According to Bloomberg on May 28, Apple plans to overhaul Siri in iOS 27 as a system-level AI assistant anchored to the Dynamic Island with a new "Search or Ask" interface supporting voice and text input. The redesigned Siri will integrate third-party large language models including Google Gemini, enabling AI search, screen content analysis, and personal data processing alongside a standalone app offering ChatGPT-like conversations.

Apple will also embed Siri directly into the Camera app for image recognition and reverse image search, introduce customizable pro controls in the camera interface, and add AI editing features like Reframe and Extend in Photos, along with natural language-driven shortcuts and writing assistance tools.
