ANZ: South Korea's July Inflation Data May Support August Rate Hike

According to ANZ Bank economist Krystal Tan, South Korea's July inflation expectations and consumer price data due next week and early August will likely be key to the central bank's August rate decision. Tan stated that stronger-than-expected second-quarter GDP growth has increased the probability of consecutive rate hikes, though August's decision remains difficult. If the inflation data indicates stronger transmission effects and rising price expectations, the case for August rate hikes would strengthen.
