According to Reuters, Anthropic and the Gates Foundation committed on May 14 to invest $200 million over four years into AI public goods focused on health and education. Anthropic will provide technical staff and Claude usage credits, while the Gates Foundation will offer grants and program design. The partnership will support data collection and labeling for African languages, create knowledge graphs for AI tools serving teachers in sub-Saharan Africa and India, and equip research centers to use Claude for predicting drug candidates for HPV and preeclampsia.
