According to ZODL founder Josh Swihart, zcashd, Zcash's original node software, stopped maintenance at block height 3,417,100 on July 19 after running for a decade. Zebra and Zakura, modern Rust node implementations, will continue operating the Zcash network, while Zallet wallet replaces zcashd's wallet functionality. Originally forked from Bitcoin Core v0.11.2, zcashd launched the Zcash network on October 28, 2016, serving as the first large-scale production deployment of zk-SNARKs technology.
