According to the Zcash Foundation, on June 3 at 12:05 PM Beijing time, the network activated the NU 6.2 hard fork to permanently fix a critical vulnerability discovered in the Orchard shielded pool on May 29. Independent security researcher Taylor Hornby identified a flaw in the Orchard zero-knowledge proof circuit that could enable double-spending within the pool. After confirmation by ZODL core engineers, an emergency soft fork via Zebra 4.5.3 temporarily disabled Orchard operations on June 2 morning. The mainnet completed the upgrade at block height 3,364,600, reactivating Orchard with corrected circuits. No known exploits occurred, user funds and privacy remained intact, and total supply was confirmed secure.
