White House Reviews Rule Restricting Immigrant Tax Credits Starting Tuesday

According to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), the White House began reviewing a proposed rule on Tuesday, July 14, that would restrict undocumented immigrants from claiming certain refundable tax credits. The U.S. Treasury Department announced plans for the regulation last November. Under the proposed rule, undocumented immigrants would be ineligible for refundable portions of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Additional Child Tax Credit, and American Opportunity Tax Credit.
