Vanguard Opens First Head of Digital Assets Role, Signals Crypto Strategy Shift

Vanguard has opened a search for a Head of Digital Assets, its first dedicated crypto strategy role, positioned within its Personal Wealth division in Dallas. The executive will build a multi-year digital asset roadmap and assess tokenization, stablecoins, custody, digital wallets and blockchain-enabled settlement. The firm manages approximately US$10 trillion in assets.

Vanguard has stated it has no plans to launch its own crypto investment products. Since December 2025, the firm has permitted its over 50 million brokerage clients to trade third-party cryptocurrency ETFs and mutual funds, marking its sole direct engagement with the asset class to date.
