USD/JPY Breaks Through 163, Hitting 40-Year High as Yen Hits New Low

USDJPY-0.08%

According to Guru Club, on July 22, the U.S. dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen for the fourth consecutive trading day, driven by escalating Middle East tensions, rising oil prices, and renewed market expectations of further Federal Reserve tightening. USD/JPY broke through 163 for the first time in 40 years, reaching a historic low for the yen.

The Japanese government has previously stated it will closely monitor exchange rate movements and take appropriate action if necessary. As USD/JPY continues to reach multi-decade highs, traders increasingly expect the central bank's tolerance for further yen depreciation is narrowing.
