U.S. Warns Iran Against Changing Strait of Hormuz Status, Threatens Agreement Violation

According to Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya TV, on July 2, the U.S. warned Iran that any attempt to change the current status of the Strait of Hormuz would be considered a violation of relevant agreements. American officials told Iran that Tehran's approach to the strait represents the first test of Iran's commitment to fulfill its obligations. Any progress on frozen Iranian assets will be conditional on Iran's compliance with the accord, the sources said.
