U.S. Treasury Secretary Says Economic Fundamentals Strong, Core Inflation Controlled on July 21

According to Fox Business Network, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on July 21 that the nation's economic fundamentals remain strong and core inflation is under control. In an interview, Bessent assessed the current macroeconomic situation as "very sound," citing robust overall economic trends despite recent energy price increases. He noted that June's consumer price index fell 0.4% month-over-month, while core CPI remained flat, indicating inflation has not accelerated. Bessent added he sees 2026 growth of at least 3% as realistic and expects inflation to move back toward the Federal Reserve's target level.
