U.S. Stock Indices Fall on July 16; Memory Chip Index Drops 8%

On July 16, U.S. stock market indices declined at the close. The S&P 500 fell 0.6%, while the Nasdaq-100 dropped 1.7%. The memory chip index led declines with an 8% drop, and the semiconductor index fell 4%. Among Nasdaq-100 constituents, memory and storage stocks suffered the steepest losses: Nebius, SanDisk, Rocket Lab, Seagate Technology, Western Digital, and Astera Labs all fell between 8.8% and 14.8%. Adobe gained 4.5%, and Dekang Medical rose 7.2%.
