According to a congressional announcement issued June 18, the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Military and Foreign Affairs scheduled a June 25 roundtable to examine how cryptocurrency may help individuals in repressive or economically unstable nations maintain financial independence. The session, chaired by Rep. William Timmons (R-SC), will explore digital assets as tools to counter state-controlled surveillance and financial coercion in countries like China and Russia.
Participants include Dustin Palmer of Anchorage Digital Bank, Jorge Jraissati of Economic Inclusion Group, and Cody Carbone, CEO of The Digital Chamber. The roundtable will assess how U.S. digital finance leadership can advance economic competitiveness while balancing national security concerns.
