According to CNN, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Hegseth plans to visit Israel on Wednesday (July 9) for his first trip in the role. He is expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to address Israeli concerns over potential F-35 fighter jet sales to Turkey, a proposal Trump mentioned during the NATO summit. Israel is currently the only country in the Middle East equipped with F-35 aircraft.
