UMC Reports May Revenue of NT$229.44B, Up 17.78% Year-on-Year, 43-Month High

According to UMC's official announcement on June 5, the chipmaker reported May revenue of NT$229.44 billion, representing a 17.78% year-on-year increase and 1.23% month-on-month growth, marking the highest monthly revenue in 43 months. The company attributed the strong performance to increased demand for power management chips driven by AI applications. UMC expects second-quarter wafer shipments to grow 7 to 9% sequentially, with second-half revenue anticipated to exceed first-half results. The company is also discussing price adjustments with customers to reflect rising material costs and higher Singapore expansion expenses.
