Uber Halts Food Delivery Expansion in Five European Countries on July 5

According to the Financial Times, Uber halted most of its planned food delivery expansion across Europe on July 5, as the company continues pursuing the acquisition of its largest regional competitor. The company will no longer launch services in five of the seven countries it had initially planned to enter this year, including Austria, Norway, and Greece. The decision comes just five months after Uber announced the European expansion initiative. Uber remains focused on acquiring German food delivery platform Delivery Hero, despite its 10 billion euro acquisition offer being rejected in May.
