Typhoon Messak Lands in Hainan on July 3 with 9-Level Winds, First to Hit China This Year

According to the Central Meteorological Administration, Typhoon Messak made landfall near the coast of Lingshui Li Autonomous County in Hainan Province on July 3 at 18:20 local time, with maximum sustained winds of 9 on the Beaufort scale (23 meters per second) and a minimum central pressure of 990 hectopascals. This marks the first typhoon to land in China in 2026.
